What this tool does
- Batch text extraction — every page of your PDF is pulled into a gallery, ready to review before you copy or download anything
- Multiple PDFs at once — add as many PDF files as you like and every page from each one is combined into one text output
- Live combined preview — see the full extracted text update instantly as you remove pages
- Skip pages you don't need — remove any page from the gallery so it's left out of the final text
- Copy or download — copy the combined text straight to your clipboard, or download it as a single .txt file
- Optional page markers — separate pages with a blank line, or with a "--- Page N ---" marker so you can tell where each page starts
Why extract text from a PDF
- Reuse a paragraph, quote or section from a report or article without retyping it
- Paste PDF content into a document, email or chat that doesn't accept file attachments
- Feed the plain text into another tool — a translator, summarizer or word counter
- Search or skim a PDF's contents faster as plain text than scrolling through pages
When this won't work
This tool reads the text layer that's already embedded in the PDF — the same text you could normally select and copy in a PDF viewer. If the PDF is a scanned document (essentially a photo of a page, with no underlying text), there's nothing to extract, since that requires optical character recognition (OCR), which this tool doesn't perform.
Frequently asked questions
Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?
No — the text is pulled out of the PDF directly inside your browser. Your file is never sent to a server.
Does this work on scanned PDFs?
Only if the PDF already has a text layer. Scanned pages that are really just photos of text won't produce useful results, since that requires OCR, which this tool doesn't do.
Can I extract text from multiple PDFs at once?
Yes — add as many PDF files as you like and every page from each one is combined into a single text output.
Can I skip pages I don't need?
Yes — remove any page from the gallery and the combined text preview and download update immediately to leave it out.
Can I just copy the text instead of downloading a file?
Yes — the Copy text button copies the full combined text straight to your clipboard, so you can paste it anywhere without saving a file.
