What this tool does

  • Text or image — stamp a word like DRAFT, or drop in a PNG/JPG logo
  • Diagonal or straight — any rotation from −90° to 90°
  • Opacity — from a faint tint that stays readable through to a solid stamp
  • Tile the whole page — repeat the mark in a grid so it cannot be cropped out
  • Behind or in front — put the mark under the text so the document stays legible
  • Nine positions and a page range — mark every page, or only the ones that matter

Why watermark a PDF

  • Mark a quote or contract DRAFT so nobody acts on the wrong version
  • Put CONFIDENTIAL on a document before sending it outside the company
  • Brand a proposal or report with your logo on every page
  • Stamp COPY on a duplicate so it is not mistaken for the signed original

Drawn into the page, not layered on top

The watermark is written into each page's own content stream with a transparency group, so it travels with the file: there is no separate layer a reader can switch off, and it survives printing, re-saving and conversion. Text marks use a built-in PDF font and stay vector-sharp; image marks are embedded once and referenced by every page, so a logo on 200 pages costs you one copy of the image, not two hundred.

Frequently asked questions

Are my PDFs uploaded anywhere?

No — the file is opened and rewritten entirely inside your browser using JavaScript. Nothing is uploaded to a server, so your document never leaves your device.

Can the watermark be removed?

A watermark is a deterrent, not encryption. It is drawn into the page content so it cannot simply be toggled off, but anyone with a full PDF editor could edit it out. Tiling the mark and placing it in front of the text makes that much harder.

Should the mark go behind or in front of the text?

Behind keeps the document easiest to read and is the usual choice for branding. In front, at low opacity, is harder to remove and better for CONFIDENTIAL or DRAFT stamps.

What image formats can I use as a logo?

PNG and JPG. PNG is best for a logo because it keeps a transparent background.

Can I watermark only some pages?

Yes — set a page range, for example 2-10, and the first page is left clean.
