Use your camera as a document scanner and build a PDF on the spot

What this tool does

  • Camera capture — opens your webcam or phone camera straight in the page, no app to install
  • Multi-page — snap sheet after sheet; every shot is added to the stack
  • Scan filters — auto contrast, grayscale and black-and-white modes that turn a photo into something that reads like a real scan
  • Fix before you save — rotate, reorder or discard any page
  • Page setup — A4, Letter or fit-to-photo, portrait or landscape
  • Or import photos — already took the pictures? Drop them in instead

Why not just email yourself a photo

A raw phone photo of a document is a large, warm-toned, unevenly lit JPEG that looks like what it is. The filters here do what a scanner app does: normalise the lighting, push the paper to white and the ink to black, and drop the colour channel so the file is a fraction of the size. The result is a tidy PDF rather than a holiday snap of a form — and unlike a scanner app, nothing is uploaded to a cloud account on the way.

Why scan to PDF

  • Send a signed form back without finding a scanner
  • Turn a stack of receipts into one PDF for an expense claim
  • Capture a whiteboard or a page of notes as a document
  • Digitise an ID or certificate without it passing through someone else's server

Frequently asked questions

Are my scans uploaded anywhere?

No — the camera stream and every captured page stay in your browser's memory, and the PDF is assembled on your device. Nothing is transmitted.

Why does it ask for camera permission?

A web page cannot see your camera without it. The permission is granted to this page in your browser only, and you can revoke it any time from the address bar.

It says my camera is unavailable.

Camera access needs a secure (HTTPS) connection and a camera no other app is holding open. On a desktop without a webcam, use the Import photos option instead.

Which filter should I use?

Auto contrast for most documents, grayscale when there are photographs on the page, and black & white for plain printed text where you want the smallest file.

Can I add more pages later?

Within the session, yes — keep snapping. Once you download, re-open the file in Merge PDF to append more pages.
