What this tool does
- Reads .docx and .doc — extracts the document's real structure, not a screenshot of it
- Keeps formatting — headings, bold, italic, bullet and numbered lists, tables and embedded images
- Page setup — A4 or Letter, portrait or landscape, with adjustable margins
- Selectable text, not a picture — the PDF contains real text you can search, copy and reflow, because the document is laid out rather than screenshotted
- Preview before export — see the rendered document and fix the page size before you commit
- Batch — convert a folder of documents in one pass
Why convert to PDF
- Send a document that looks the same on every machine, with no font substitution surprises
- Submit a CV, invoice or application where PDF is the required format
- Share a finished document that should not be casually edited
- Archive a file in a format that will still open in a decade
How the conversion works
The .docx is unzipped in your browser and its XML is mapped to clean HTML — so a Word Heading 1 becomes a real heading, a list becomes a list, and a table becomes a table. That HTML is laid out at your chosen page size and written to PDF. Because the structure is read from the document rather than inferred from a picture of it, the output is a properly paginated document rather than a long image.
Where Word's own export wins is in exotic features: text boxes, SmartArt, footnote numbering, headers and footers, and field codes. Those are Word-specific constructs with no HTML equivalent, so if your document leans on them heavily, export from Word itself. For ordinary documents — letters, reports, CVs, invoices — this handles them without your file leaving the device.
Frequently asked questions
Are my documents uploaded anywhere?
No — the .docx is unzipped and rendered in your browser, and the PDF is generated on your device.
Which Word formats are supported?
Modern .docx fully. Legacy .doc from Word 97-2003 is a different binary format and support is best-effort — re-save it as .docx in Word or LibreOffice for a reliable result.
Are headers, footers and footnotes kept?
Not in this version — they live outside the document body flow. Body text, headings, lists, tables and images all convert.
Will it look exactly like Word's own PDF export?
Close for ordinary documents, but not identical: line breaks and page breaks are recalculated during layout. Use the preview to check before downloading.
Can I convert several documents at once?
Yes — add multiple files and each becomes its own PDF; a batch comes back as a ZIP.
